LOF PACKAGING DESIGN

This conceptual project was created  for a sustainable gift company. The project included a brand identity with a full brand manual, packaging, website and advertisement .  The company is named Lof, which is and Icelandic word for compliments, thanks, praising and acceptance, but it sounds a lot like love, which is fitting for its purpose. The aim of the service is to eliminate the waste that comes with gift giving by offering durable yet recyclable and reusable packaging that encourages people to give it forward.

The slogan for the service is “Give a little lof” and it’s made to bring people together from a distance and create long lasting memories with hand written messages, home made presents and elegant packaging that fit for every occasion, all while respecting the nature. The logo is inspired by nature, a gift bow and a heart – the icon of love, that together form a sweet, yet elegant shape, coloured in earthly muted tones.

The packaging has an elegant feel to it. It’s small yet strong as it needs to withstand the postal service and fit through mail slots. It’s made of recyclable paper mix and the printing technique in use is aqueous coating, that enhances the durability and strength of the product and it can be fully recycled with it.
To start off with, I created an exact prototype which I then built my digital packaging on. Each product comes with a handwritten note which should be the only packaging based material the original receiver keeps, as we encourage people to give the packaging forward to reduce gift wrapping waste.

The main marketing technique is based around the QR strategy which takes the viewer to the explanatory video where you learn a bit more about the purpose of the packaging.
I continued to experiment with 3D for the minimalistic online shop and focused on creating a clear and simple navigation strategy that allows you to act without thinking while the design guides you forward.
